all lives — spoiled kids — simple
world before war & the only killers
are in the family
the good life — wood panels
spinning couples, long days at the bank
lace collars, the wristwatch, prayers
the demands of love expanding
smoke ring & contracting noose
& the stories they tell
wrap it all up in brown paper
"I cannot go on making cakes"
all in a quiet California town
