Out of the Subway

He holds his bag like it's a million bucks
in it   salesman hustle or muscle
The red mask of motherhood lifts up
Freaks Tourettics fatsos amputees
our Christian maimed &
sensitive slobs like me

I come out invigorated as half the time
to crackheads and community gardens
"when the bell rings 12 times in hell / the bell
rings 12 times in this town as well"
Everything in its place, how nice, but
nature is omnivorous

skinny kids in short shorts on bicycles
What's Bad for Kids is Great for Art i.e. Us

(kneesocks plaid skirts
& between fingerspread leaves
viennese peonies)

Your body: mustard oranges.
I am a rational vulgarian
and carry my reason a chest above my passion

The daily portage: what's out is through

Days of delays. Now
construction cinches the avenue.
