Night terroirs

Night Terroirs

1.
Tbe man in the echoes    projecting
over the Pacific
too choppy to mirror
stilling the eye
but the glow-worm
inches toward the sun immeasurable
brick by watery brick
without loss of lust or lustre

cold foil of want
retiring
ashes and essential oils
scum
the barge turned backward
for breath of jubilee

impervious night
the streets are wandered
periodically, a knotted
mingling
clots the dream

curdling the pearls
hung on each tongue

2.
The delusion real
pressing lightly on the balls
brightly I discover
pain is
speculation

what will we do when
we go out
ten years inside a cloud
less like living than
accumulation

heard a story
once. believed it
twice. left
well
& alone

you may be a critter crawling
or the terrain may out-creep you
the baby may sleep
before the moon
