"Our task is to become … "
The ghost remained pinned to the ground
Marble beside the sea
the eroded face
to lean on in mourning
what happened only minutes ago
happened impersonally. We judge echoes
we are. Nipples unusually large
& expressions of despair. Choosing
the shade-side and the bright
rippling & smoothing the fabric
Always dangerous, always entrancing
fire in the hand or in the air
set free to celebrate a holiday
only the wise man manages properly
what reality dissolves of good in him.

*

Taken from him it spilled out
frozen orange juice from a can
the answer too superficial to be excerpted
but still visible on the contours of his brain
preserved as a common property
a map of human behaviour
projecting the highest pleasure
the n-fold or the double-stitch
overheard from the neighbours
when I come home & you close yourself in
dissolution equally plausible
either side of the gate
He gave out a euclidean whimper & though he did not control the code
saw that it was simple, the problem of nonsense-mediation
to participate in what is to be emulated
world-making easy as beers on Sunday.
